Leighton brings over 23 years of federal law enforcement experience, with a specialized focus in forensic and financial analysis. Throughout his career, he has supported special agents and attorneys across multiple federal agencies, including the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), the Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General (HUD-OIG), and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
For approximately 13 years with the Department of Justice, Leighton concentrated primarily on healthcare fraud investigations involving Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE claims data. His expertise includes damages calculations, ability-to-pay models for both corporate and individual defendants, and a wide range of complex financial and data analyses.
In addition to healthcare fraud, Leighton has contributed to major investigations involving defense contract fraud, mortgage fraud, and disaster fraud. His analytical insights and detailed approach have played a key role in supporting successful prosecutions and settlements in high-stakes federal cases.
