National Security. Partially embedded with the U.S. Special Forces Group and as a key member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), Ms. Zarifian investigated cases threatening the financial or existential security of the United States inside as well as outside U.S. borders. While many of these national security and counterterrorism cases remain classified, the experience Ms. Zarifian gained when serving at the frontline of our national security is valuable and a great asset for clients confronted with questions about this unique area of law.
Healthcare Fraud. Special Agent Zarifian offers clients an unusually specialized expertise when it comes to healthcare fraud audits and investigations. For over a decade, Ms. Zarifian—herself a trained and registered pharmacist and former pharmacist in charge—investigated a wide variety of healthcare fraud cases on behalf of the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice. Focus investigations include civil and criminal cases—under the Anti-Kickback Statute, 18 U.S.C. 1347, False Claims Act, and Medicare Fraud—against pharmacies, DME providers, telemedicine companies and marketers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, toxicology laboratories, and individual providers, to name only a few.
Education. Ms. Zarifian obtained a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and previously worked as Pharmacist in Charge and Drug Control Agent in Connecticut. Additionally, Ms. Zarifian went through intense analytic white-collar crime training during her tenure with the FBI.
